Who writes our content

Our guides, articles, client alerts and tools are prepared by the Ozek Law team. Every guide is reviewed by Tolga Ozek, Esq., founder of Ozek Law Firm, LLC, before it is published. The name of the reviewing attorney and the date of the last update appear on each page.

02 — Editorial Policy

Sources

We rely on primary sources only:

Statutes

principally the Immigration and Nationality Act and the U.S. Code

Regulations

in the Code of Federal Regulations

The USCIS Policy Manual

and official USCIS form instructions

The Federal Register

for new rules, fee changes and notices

The U.S. Department of State

including the Foreign Affairs Manual and the monthly Visa Bulletin

Court and agency decisions

including precedent decisions of the Board of Immigration Appeals and federal courts

We do not base legal statements on news reports, social media or other law firms’ websites. When a primary source is not yet available, we say so, and we do not publish the point as settled.

Dates and updates

Every page shows the date it was last updated. Immigration rules, fees, processing times and forms change often, so time-sensitive articles also state the date on which the facts described were current. When a rule changes, we update the page or add a note that it has been superseded.

04 — Editorial Policy

Languages

We publish in English and Turkish, and some content in additional languages. English is the reference version. Our translations are faithful legal translations, not word-for-word renderings, and they are reviewed for accuracy. If a translation and the English version differ, the English version controls.

05 — Editorial Policy

Corrections

If you believe a page contains an error, email info@ozeklaw.com with the page address and a short description of the problem. We review every report, correct errors promptly, and add a note to the page when a correction is material, meaning it could change how a reader acts.

06 — Editorial Policy

General information, not legal advice

Our content is attorney advertising and general information. It is not legal advice, and reading it does not create an attorney-client relationship. The right answer for you depends on facts we have not yet seen. Before you act, speak with an attorney.

07 — Editorial Policy

Independence

We do not accept paid placements, sponsored content or payment for links. When we mention a government tool, a service provider or another resource, it is because we believe it is useful to readers.
